On May 20, 2025, the European Commission published the results on the second Hydrogen Auction within the Innovation Fund framework.
Out of the 61 bids received, 15 renewable hydrogen production projects were selected to receive a total of €992 million in EU support, with individual subsidies ranging from €8 million to €246 million, and with a total cumulative capacity of more than 2,300 MWe.
12 projects were selected under the general topic that will receive support ranging from €0.20 and €0.60 per kg of renewable hydrogen produced, while 3 maritime projects will receive support between 0.45 to €1.88 per kg.
Of the selected projects, the majority will be based in Spain (8), followed by Norway (3), Germany (2), the Netherlands and Finland (1).
