Verdict Announced: 85 Projects Advance to Grant Preparation Under Innovation Fund 2023 Call
As part of the Innovation Fund 2023 call, 85 projects have been invited to prepare for grants.
The H2IF team has conducted an initial evaluation of the energy storage and hydrogen projects. There have been 17 ES and H2 projects awarded, including:
• 3 in the “intra-day electricity storage” sector
• 7 in the “manufacturing components of ES” sector
• 1 in the “other ES” sector
• 6 from the field of hydrogen.
Out of these 17, three applied for the Small Scale Call (intra-day storage), two for the Medium Scale Call (one hydrogen, one intra-day storage), seven for the Manufacturing Call (all ES manufacturing components), and four for the Pilots Call (two hydrogen, one intra-day storage, one).
The wide range of storage technologies supported by the EC is welcomed by H2IF!
PEM electrolysers, RFNBO hydrogen production from waste streams, ammonia production, and even hydrogen-powered shipping solutions were among the various facets of the H2 value chain that were covered by winning hydrogen projects.
Regarding ES technologies, battery recycling and cutting-edge subterranean solutions for thermal energy storage and pumped hydro storage share the stage with Li-ion projects centred on cell manufacturing (including CAM, pCAM, and anode).
